Sources: Celtic set aside £6m+ as January signing plan revealed

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Celtic have between £6 and £10 million to spend during the January transfer window.

The Hoops have a three-man winter target list that includes a striker, a central midfielder, and a left winger, as reported by Football Insider on December 28.

Their sudden departure from European football, having finished their Champions League campaign bottom of their group, has had an impact on their finances.

Brendan Rodgers’ team is rumored to need to sell players in January to increase their transfer budget.

Given their tight budget, Celtic may also be looking into possible loan agreements to improve their team, although Rodgers is optimistic about adding players to his already lean roster.

This winter, Parkhead’s top recruitment objective is a striker, since forwards Kyogo Furuhashi and Oh Hyeon-gyu are heading to the Asian Cup in the new year.

This summer, the team signed eight permanent players, including Odin Thiago Holm, Gustaf Lagerbielke, and Luis Palma, and is said to have generated a profit of £11.2 million.

The £25 million transfer of Jota to Saudi Pro League team Al-Ittihad offset much of the spending.

Additionally, sources have informed Football Insider on December 26 that West Ham, a Premier League team, is closely monitoring star midfielder Matt O’Riley.
