Reo Hatate’s injury has been discussed by Hajime Moriyasu after the Celtic midfielder hobbled out of Japan’s victory over Bahrain.

With a 3-1 victory, the Japanese advanced to the Asian Cup quarterfinals, but Hatate sustained an injury in the process. During the first half, the 25-year-old appeared to have a calf issue, and after getting treatment on the field, it was determined he would need to be taken off the field.

Hidemasa Morita took his position, but his teammates easily won the match without him, with fellow Celt Daizen Maeda sitting on the sidelines the entire time. The Hoops will now be anxious to see how fit Hate is and want to find out how much of it.

Following the match, Japan’s manager Moriyasu discussed the injury, although he didn’t reveal much. “I want to hear the doctor’s diagnosis,” he stated.

“But, when an injury occurs, it hurts the players as well as the squad, but we still need to win the game and keep the momentum going. The game today, I believe, has increased my confidence.”
