As Brendan Rodgers attempts to bolster his forward line in January, the rumour that Celtic are interested in signing £8 million-rated forward Mathias Kvistgaarden made headlines once more this week.
The 21-year-old has been under Celtic’s notice since the summer, and oddly, Paul Parker, a former Manchester United midfielder, has expressed interest in him now that Rodgers is trying to get him to Parkhead.
The famous United player has pushed the young player to stay where he is, presumably because he doesn’t want Celtic stealing the best player from the Danish division.
“I’m sure every top club in Denmark would be disappointed if their best players left the club just to go to Celtic and play in the Scottish league,” Parker stated [Daily Record].
“Compared to the Scottish league, the Danish league is more competitive. Even though FC Copenhagen is currently third in the league, their performance in the Champions League this season suggests that the league is actually fairly strong when you compare their budget to that of the other clubs. I recall some pretty impressive results from some Danish teams in Europe. Formerly, the Scottish League served as a useful stepping stone to the Premier League.
“But to be honest, I wouldn’t mind playing in the Scottish league over the Danish one right now.”
Here, Parker seemed to be confused about what to do. There is still a fantastic route to the English Premier League via the Scottish League.
Take a look at players who have left Paradise, like as Kieran Tierney, Odsonne Edouard, Ryan Christie, and Virgil van Dijk. Their big-money moves were made possible by Celtic’s victories.
It’s rather puzzling why Parker feels the need to provide his two cents worth. Kvistgaarden has every opportunity of making his next major move if he decides to join Celtic, but only if he performs well on the field, as others have.
