After Ange Postecoglou departed Celtic for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, Brendan Rodgers returned, and the team has had a relatively smooth transition.

Despite Jota’s departure to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad and Postecoglou’s departure, they have impressively managed to hold onto a title charge. Despite Sunday’s loss to Kilmarnock being a new setback, Celtic have continued to push for a third straight Scottish Premiership title rather than giving in and giving Old Firm rivals Rangers the upper hand.

Of course, there is still a long way to go, but the Hoops appear to have a plan in place to make sure that their title credentials are maintained, even if they lose Kyogo Furuhashi to the Asia Cup in the new year. And with that strategy, they might surprise the Rangers once more.

News of a Celtic move

In an effort to offset Jota’s potency, Celtic added reinforcements in the summer transfer window in the form of Luis Palma and Hyun-jun Yang. Maik Nawrocki and Nathaniel Phillips further expanded Rodgers’ defensive options. With the January transfer window opening in a few weeks, the Northern Irishman may now have the opportunity to bolster his team even more, with Celtic leading the way for one particular target.

The Scottish Sun claims that Celtic is ahead of Old Firm rivals Rangers in the race to capture Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski during the January transfer window. According to reports, they will need to give Aberdeen more than £4.4 million, which would set a Scottish record cost between two teams, in order to get the forward.

The Hoops are fighting to hang on to one of their future stars.

Recently, when questioned about Miovski, Rodgers stated:

“I wouldn’t discuss any one player in particular. Agents are leaking identities and links at this time, so it would be a lengthy six weeks if I did. However, names are undoubtedly present. We have the winter break, so we won’t play until the middle of January, even though as a manager you would always want to get them in as soon as possible. The guys who haven’t been playing are likewise hard at work; they naturally want to get out and play as soon as possible.

Miovski is “great” enough to compete with Kyogo on the same level.

Miovski can easily equal Kyogo’s output in the Scottish Premiership, as his stats demonstrate. So far this season, the North Macedonia international and the Celtic man have both scored six league goals, with the Aberdeen man playing a game less than the current Celtic star. Miovski might be Rodgers’ best bet in January if he wants to replace Kyogo at the Asia Cup.

Exuberant about his teammate, Goalkeeper Kelley Roos of Aberdeen said:

Bojan is a bright guy. Feeding him will make him score. Bojan constantly places his body in front of him, and he always finds himself on the shoulder. Bojan poses a serious risk from every direction. He has one-touch finishes and can score from crosses. I’ve played with attackers who can shoot well, but their mobility is nowhere like as great as Bojan’s. We are all glad to have him on the team because he is an excellent striker.
