‘Perplexed’… Alan Stubbs says Celtic have spent £3m on a signing that just doesn’t make sense

I seem to remember that Celtic’s signing procedures have drawn a lot of attention. I think the only two seasons when fans were happy were the debuts of Ange Postecoglou and Martin O’Neill.

Celtic signed players including Chris Sutton, Alan Thompson, Didier Agathe, and Neil Lennon for the 2000–01 season, and they helped the team achieve its first domestic treble crown since O’Neill’s Jock Stein era.

More precisely, the Celtics’ historic ninth triple win and the Rangers’ one-season supremacy were both greatly aided by Ange, Yogo Furuhashi, Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate, and Daizen Maeda.

This season has shown that Celtic committed a serious error in their hiring practices, which is why hiring is so important.

Alan Stubbs is not happy with one of the two players Celtic signed in January; too many players that the team signed in the summer have disappointed.

In charge of Celtic’s bench against Kilmarnock, the former defender admitted to being perplexed by Nicolas Kuhn’s transfer.

“If Celtic have their best XI on the pitch, then it’s a different story, but they have to make do with what they’ve got,” Stubbs said to PLZ Soccer.

“Just look at their bench from Saturday; it doesn’t appear like they have the guys to go to the next level, including Oh, Kuhn, Bernardo, and Bernabei.

“I find some of the signings confusing, and this might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for their hiring practices in the last eighteen months since Ange left.”

Celtic has already lost money as a result of their poor hiring choices.

Stubbs is correct when he predicts that Celtic’s purchases would come at a cost. It is not a question of whether; it already has.

Celtic’s hiring practises have already shown to be costly after the club lost to Kilmarnock in the League Cup and surrendered a significant advantage at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The summer signings have had little to no effect on the team, possibly with the exception of Luis Palma. It’s too soon to evaluate Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn, but the early signs suggest that they are still being assessed.

It’s time for Brendan Rodgers’ team to start talking to each other out on the field. Despite being the current Scottish champions, if they are not careful, they could very well end up without a trophy for the full season.
