Zerroki conceded the spot kick after he and Scales grappled in the box
Celtic were able to take the lead in last night’s Champions League clash when the pair grappled in the box and the Irishman hit the deck. Referee Benoit Bastien had just spoken the pair and warned about pulling in the box but then when the corner finally came in, Zerrouki was at it again and a penalty was awarded.
But the midfielder insists they were both at it and there wasn’t enough contact from himself on Scales to warrant a spot kick. And he also claims the indication from the centre half towards him was that he agreed the call from the whistler was very harsh on him.
“He touched me and I touched him. Then the corner is taken and he pushes me first. Then I touch him It’s far too light for a penalty in my eyes.
“I haven’t seen it again myself. The way I talk about it now is purely how I felt in the match. The Celtic player also indicated that he didn’t think it was a penalty either.
“That says enough, I think. It was given far too easily by the referee. In the end we really got enough chances to take control of the game.”
