Killie star proves Rangers never leaves you as he rubs social media salt in Celtic wounds

As he celebrates a historic Kilmarnock victory over Celtic, Lewis Mayo demonstrates that the Rangers link never goes away.

The Rugby Park team’s second-season triumph over Celtic has completely opened up the Scottish Premiership title race.

Kilmarnock, managed by former Rangers midfielder Derek McInnes, won 2-1 and took down Brendan Rodgers for the second time this season.

However, supporters of Rangers will remember Lewis Mayo’s valiant display and joyous celebrations, as the center-back played a pivotal role in Killie’s historic day.

It makes sense that Derek McInnes was recently predicting the defender would be included in the Scotland team.

Lewis Mayo celebrates Kilmarnock’s win

Lewis Mayo, a graduate of the Rangers Academy, celebrated Kilmarnock’s victory over Celtic on social media.

The Ayrshire star was outstanding in this potentially crucial Premiership win and was a member of the Killie squad that eliminated Celtic from the League Cup earlier in the season.

After posting Kilmarnock’s official X message about the win, the defender posted some pictures of the outcome along with the phrase, “enjoyed that one.”

Ibrox supporters will not forget Lewis Mayo’s post-match celebrations, as the 23-year-old center-back put on a remarkable display.

Kilmarnock dominate the fight for the Scottish Premiership title.

With Rangers currently two points behind their Old Firm opponents in the Scottish Premiership, Kilmarnock’s victory over Celtic is being celebrated by more people than just Lewis Mayo.

With a 3-1 victory over Dundee this past weekend, an injured Ibrox team is struggling through December but is still competitive in four events.

This is a much-needed lift ahead of what promises to be a huge week in Glasgow, where Rangers play Aberdeen in the League Cup Final then travel to Betis in the Europa League.

Rangers are currently struggling to find that additional bit of extra time despite a demanding schedule and growing injury concerns.

But they must keep grinding out those wins on Scottish soil if the team is to maintain a title push going into the January break.

Rangers face St Johnstone (H), Motherwell (A), and Ross County (H) in the Scottish Premiership after this intense week, followed by an important trip to Celtic Park.

In order to make sure the former Ibrox center-back’s efforts aren’t in vain, Rangers must go through a challenging two weeks while Lewis Mayo and Kilmarnock celebrate a historic triumph over Celtic.

Lewis Mayo progressed through Rangers’ development system but never made it to the first squad. Before relocating permanently to Rugby Park, he had two loan stints with Partick Thistle, Dunfermline, and Kilmarnock.
