“Killer”: Palma’s Instagram Reaction To Mikey Johnston Brace

Few would have expected Mikey Johnston to have the impact he did on the Celtic’s Boxing Day clash with Dundee. With just over ten minutes to go, the winger came on and bagged a brace.

After the game, his fellow winger, and the man he replaced, Luis Palma, reacted to his duo of strikes. On Instagram, the Honduran internationalist posted a story of him and Johnston with ‘killer’ as the caption:

Palma and Johnston

These guys will be fighting it out for a spot in the starting lineup in this Saturday’s Glasgow derby. Being left-wingers by nature, Johnston and Palma are competing for the same spot on the squad.

Although Palma is the more seasoned choice, it is difficult to overlook Johnston in light of his afternoon brace.

When Daizen Maeda was hurt, the 24-year-old was given a chance to play for the squad, but he rejected it. But then he was playing to the right. He came on today and scored two goals while operating off the left.

That is, after all, his default and preferred position. It appears to be where Rodgers gets the best performance out of him, but the Irishman will struggle for a few days to decide who to pick.
