Jota has recently been heavily linked to a move to Tottenham.
The Portuguese winger is currently out of favor at Al-Ittihad, and a return to the United Kingdom may be imminent for the player.
As everyone knows, Ange Postecoglou adores Jota from his Celtic days. Speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Alasdair Gold claims that not everyone in Glasgow agrees that this would be a wise decision.
Gold claims he had previously discussed with Celtic Park players who could transfer to Tottenham to join the Postecoglou revolution, but no one at Celtic ever mentioned Jota as a suitable candidate for such a move.
Jota has not been tipped to Tottenham by anyone at Celtic.
Gold discussed what he had learned about Jota from Celtic.
“While Jota makes sense to me, I did find it intriguing that when Postecoglou arrived, I inquired around Celtic about which players he should recruit, and Jota wasn’t on their list. I’m not sure whether there were any concerns or feelings that he wouldn’t be able to succeed in the Premier League, but now since he’s in the Saudi Pro League and hasn’t even registered, he can only participate in Asian Champions League matches and other events of that nature, Gold stated.
Odd that Jota hasn’t been predicted to play for Tottenham
It is odd, it must be noted, that no one at Celtic predicted Jota would follow Ange to Tottenham.
Jota matched Postecoglou’s approach perfectly and was maybe the only Celtic player who appeared poised for a larger transfer the previous campaign.
It’s unclear why no one at Celtic thought this was a bad idea, but it does raise questions about whether or not the much-discussed January transfer will actually happen.
Jota is a player to keep an eye on because Tottenham is rumored to be interested in him.
