“It’s felt inside Celtic”: A journalist reveals the true feelings of the team on Gustaf Lagerbielke.

Journalist shares what those inside Celtic think of Gustaf Lagerbielke, it doesn't make good reading

There has been a lot of talk about who Celtic might buy during the January transfer window, but players need to leave before that happens. One of the faces who Celtic could boot out of the January exit door is centre-back, Gustaf Lagerbielke.

The 23-year-old only arrived in the summer and was thrust into the limelight straight away, including having an iffy moment during Celtic’s 1-0 win at Ibrox.

Since then, the chances for Gustaf Lagerbielke under Brendan Rodgers have been few and far between, with talk of the player possibly leaving.

Journalist Mark Guidi has shared that those inside Celtic Park feel that the Sweden international just isn’t up to it, as he told Go Radio.

That’s not surprising to hear because there is nothing that seems to stand out with the player, who now won’t get ahead of Liam Scales and Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Gustaf Lagerbielke’s future at Celtic

“Some of the players who aren’t getting a game aren’t good enough,” said Guidi. “I think we all could say six or seven players who Celtic could get rid of that are probably about £100k-a-week.

“It was felt inside Celtic Park, by the people who matter and know their football, that Lagerbielke isn’t up to it. They will probably look for offers for him next month.”

Celtic’s centre-backs

Let’s be honest, not many thought that the team would be heading to January with Carter-Vickers and Scales as the main guys.

When Nat Phillips joined from Liverpool on a loan deal until January, you thought he would have a much bigger impact.

But this is another Shane Duffy move and, thankfully, it’s only a loan, so he will be heading back to Anfield with huge disappointment.

So, that could possibly be two centre-backs out of the door next month, so you would imagine another one will come in for Rodgers to work with.
