Bobby Petta, a former winger for Celtics, disclosed that he lost all of his money to a Ponzi scheme and is only now financially recovering.
The former winger, who should have been at ease after playing for teams like Celtic, has been talking to Algemeen Dagblad about his circumstances and how things turned bad financially.
During his playing career, which began in 1993 with Feyenoord and finished in 2015 with a stint at Adelaide Croatia, Petta made appearances for numerous clubs.
Celtic was one of the teams in the midst of a variegated career that saw them play for teams in the Netherlands, England, and Australia, to mention just three.
He signed with the Scottish powerhouses in 1999, and even though he had several injuries at Celtic Park, he was still able to win a domestic treble in 2001. He left the team in 2004 after a falling out with Martin O’Neill resulted in his playing in only one game between 2002 and 2004.
His playing career’s issues paled in comparison to those that followed, as he fell victim to financial advisors’ deception and lost all of the money he made from deals with teams like Celtic.

“I didn’t give the ramifications enough thought. I had too much faith in people’s good intentions. I wouldn’t assume that an action had a 90% chance of failing if I knew there was only a 10% chance it would fail. Then I would like to be one of the 10%.
Naturally, I put a lot of effort into getting it back through the grapevine, but those folks strike you again. I was too easily fooled. But everything sounded so natural. They give you precisely the information you desire.
“I don’t need everything in order to be content. I now have electricity, hot water, and a little flat. That’s sufficient for me. Yes, I can purchase bread, but I can’t buy everything. Not everyone on the planet is able to state that.
