Former Celtic Manager Heaps Praises on Hibs CEO for Showing Bravery in Reducing Celtic and Rangers’ Away Allocations.

Ben Kensell, the CEO of Hibs, has received recognition from Martin O’Neill for his boldness in cutting down on Celtic and Rangers’ away allocations.

Due to the actions of visiting supporters, including their sectarian chanting, the Hibees announced last week that both Glasgow clubs would receive fewer tickets for Easter Road matches going forward. Hearts, the city’s rivals, had already made this step, which angered Old Firm supporters.

Last week, Kensell discussed the decision on talkSPORT, acknowledging that Hibs will suffer financial losses as a result. He insisted that this demonstrated how seriously they take the problem of supporter conduct. “It’s impactful and important because, if we’re willing to lose money, we know that something has crossed a line and gone too far, and we want to address it and take appropriate action,” the speaker stated.

“That conversation will take place with the SFA and SPFL. Scotland has a fantastic game in which we take great pride, and we want to ensure that it is observed to the highest standard.

Following the tragic chants during yesterday’s FA Cup match between Liverpool and Manchester United, the subject was brought up again today. O’Neill praised Hibs and Kensell for their bravery.

“He was talking especially about the flares and pyros,” stated the former Celtics manager. A player receiving a corner kick and getting showered with objects. Those are not so much tragedies chanting as they are problems (for Hibs). It has been ongoing for a while.

Is it something they’re trying to outlaw because someone sings The Fields of Athenry from a Celtic perspective or The Sash My Father Wore from a Rangers perspective? I’m not certain. He made a brave decision to reduce the allocation if he believes that Hibs will lose out financially and that this is deeply offensive to many people up there.
