First start in 22 months, two alterations, Celtic team
This evening, when the Bhoys take on Hibernian at home in the Scottish Premiership, the Celtic match action picks up speed.
Even though they weren’t playing at their best on Sunday, Celtic defeated St Johnstone 3-1, and they will be trying to continue their winning streak in the league tonight.
Even though Luis Palma was worn out toward the end of the game this past weekend, Brendan Rodgers does not currently have any injury concerns.
But when they heal from injuries, wingers like Daizen Maeda and Liel Abada are still too young to go back into the starting lineup.Reo Hatate won’t be back until the end of January, it is anticipated.
Which squad does the management intend to use? This is our best attempt.
Possible Celtic squad versus Hibernian
Joe Hart will stay in the goal. Even though his season at Celtic hasn’t been as good as it has in the past, the manager still doesn’t think he should play with Scott Bain or Benjamin Siegrist.
Although Celtic’s defense has not improved over the past month, Rodgers still has the greatest alternatives with his current starting lineup.Alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alistair Johnston and Greg Taylor are anticipated to make an appearance.
Even though Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke are begging to be in the starting lineup but haven’t been able to persuade Rodgers that they should be ahead of the Irish international, Liam Scales is probably going to start as well.
The largest alteration we might see is in the middle of the field.Matt O’Riley and Callum McGregor will undoubtedly start, but there is still a chance to fill the third midfield position, and David Turnbull, Odin Holm, and Paulo Bernardo haven’t been able to show that they should be starting more often.
Next is Tomoki Iwata, who has appeared to be rather occupied when not playing. Since he hasn’t been given a starting opportunity yet, today would be an excellent test match for the management to give him one. He is the only player in the plans right now.
Given how bad Hyunjun Yang played on Sunday as well, Mickey Johnston might get a chance to get started. The winger was impressive during the weekend as a halftime replacement, creating opportunities for Celtic to take advantage of and win in Perth.
It would be a significant improvement for Johnston to play, given he hasn’t started for Celtic in an incredible 22 months—since February 2022, during a Scottish Cup victory over Raith Rovers.
Yogo Furuhashi and Luis Palma, who both continue to be the Bhoys’ top goal threats, should round out the attack.
