Chris Sutton blasts Rangers’ actions amid criticism at SFA after Celtic’s Glasgow derby day win

After Rangers lost their Glasgow derby to Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic 2-1 on Saturday, Chris Sutton gave them a harsh reality check.

Rangers yelled for a penalty in the first half following a handball in the penalty area by Celtic’s Alistair Johnston.

Abdallah Sima was offside in the build-up to that incident, though, therefore neither on-field nor via VAR, was anything granted.

You would have thought that was pretty easy to understand, but according to Sky Sports, Rangers are apparently upset with the SFA for not having released the audio from that call yet.

While “surprised” by the Rangers’ antics, Celtic great Chris Sutton was quite direct in his response, stating that they should concentrate on their own problems, such the terrible performances of Todd Cantwell and Cyriel Dessers, as he told the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast.

Furthermore, Chris Sutton was eager to remind everyone at Ibrox that in more than 70 Scottish Premiership games, they had not been given a penalty.

Therefore, instead of berating people that made the right decision, maybe they should look inward or learn how to counter Kyogo Furuhashi’s brilliance.

Sutton called the fact that Rangers did not receive a penalty a “big contentious issue.” “SFA is receiving complaints from Rangers. They would like to hear the VAR talk on audio.

However, the manner in which they have approached this. Even I am taken aback. Other teams may be as shocked and worried about the fact that no penalties have been given against Rangers in the previous two seasons. It’s 72-73 games, I believe. It had been two years since Rangers was given a penalty. It’s incredible.

“Rangers, don’t hold Willie Collum responsible for your shortcomings. The truth is that they would have won if they possessed a center forward capable of placing his boots on the appropriate foot. It’s possible that they won the game in the end.

Since he joined the team, Todd Cantwell has missed important Celtic-Rangers games. If you want to point the finger at someone, then put the blame on your own players. Don’t hold Willie Collum responsible because, in essence, they made the correct choice, even though they went ahead and did it.

Celtic FC v Rangers FC - Cinch Scottish Premiership

Under Celtic’s control

Not too long ago, the team was experiencing expensive and demoralizing back-to-back Premiership losses, and the supporters were yelling, “sack the board.”

However, sometimes what matters most is how you get back up after being struck down.

And it’s safe to say that the Bhoys have responded incredibly well in terms of both performances and outcomes.

The team has demonstrated the proper way to do things, led by captain Callum McGregor, who was named Man of the Match against Rangers.

To round up the first half of the season strong and comfortably atop the standings, the team plays St Mirren on Tuesday.
