Celtic supporters are on edge following Kwon’s St. Mirren debut, as Stephen Robinson identifies the one outstanding loanee that is absent.

Stephen Robinson was ecstatic to witness Kwon Hyeok-kyu, a recent addition to the team, make his debut for St. Mirren after his Queens Gambit paid off.

The coach of the Buddies was put through a lot as his team battled to overcome Marvin Bartley’s Queen of the South side. However, they persisted, and in the 71st minute, Alex Gogic headed home to secure their place in the fifth round, rewarding their perseverance. Scott Tanser’s 20-yard attempt, which went over the bar in the second half, cost the Saints a string of opportunities.

However, Buddies manager Robbo thought the winning margin ought to have been higher, saying Greg Kiltie was unfairly treated because two of his goals were flagged as offside. Robinson stated: “We controlled the entire game, but it’s a compliment to Queen of the South, who were organized, as we expected. The second goal was unquestionably onside out of the two that were offside. It was a very wise move, and we had been working on it during the vacation. We believe he was also on board for the first one. It would have improved the comfort level of the game.

“We should have scored three or four goals, but we only got one after working on set plays. It demonstrates our dominance that they haven’t managed to get a shot on aim, yet Queen of the South are a formidable opponent. I’m happy that we continued to move the ball and place it in strategic spots.

Robinson showered Bhoy Kwon with praise on his debut, despite the Celtic loanee’s pregame plan not calling for him to play the entire ninety minutes. “Kwon’s not played in months; he’s a good player, he just needs game time,” the St. Mirren head continued. We are happy that he received a 90.

We estimated that Kwon would need roughly 60 minutes, but I felt that because we were winning the game, he wasn’t moving a lot; rather, he was controlling the action. We reasoned that he would benefit mentally from having ninety minutes. We saw glimmers of his immense skill, and he and Caolan Boyd-Munce ruled the match.
