News and rumors on Scottish football transfers involving teams like Hearts and Celtic
The Scottish Premiership matches that Rangers and Aberdeen missed this week will soon be made up, as Philip Clement won his first prize as Ibrox manager in the Viaplay Cup final.
However, Hibs and Hearts will have a much-needed respite before facing St. Mirren and Ross County, respectively, this weekend. At Parkhead, the Jambos triumphed over Celtic with remarkable style, while the Hibees were destroyed 1-0 by St Johnstone.
It was the Hoops’ first home loss in fifty-two games. This weekend, they take on Dundee, and they’ll be hoping to take a much-needed victory at the top of the league.
Here is the most recent information from Hibs, Hearts, and their rivals ahead of a hectic week in the Scottish Premiership.
A Celtic star returns to the Premier League
The 26-year-old center-half Nat Phillips will return to Liverpool in January once his short-term loan agreement with Celtic expires (Football Scotland).
The defender joined Celtic in the midst of the Hoops’ injury crisis, which included long-term injuries to Yuki Kobayashi, Stephen Welsh, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Maik Nawrocki. However, Phillips has found it difficult to make an impression in the Scottish Premiership, making just eight appearances for Brendan Rodgers.
According to The Athletic, Phillips will not receive a contract extension and will instead return to Jurgen Klopp’s team the following month with the intention of going on loan to a different team for the second half of the 2023–2024 season.
Growing interest in the Hoops defender
With teams in his native Argentina and Italy showing interest in the 24-year-old left-back, Alexandro Bernabei is expected to leave Celtic in January. The Scottish champions are considering Tiago Araujo, assessed at £4 million, from Estoril as a possible replacement for Greg Taylor.
Despite spending £3.5 million to join the Hoops, Bernabei has not been able to make an impression, and there are rumors that he may be placed on loan in the coming year. The Argentine U-23 international is an Italian citizen and would welcome a transfer to Italy, but he is still well-liked in his native country and should have plenty of alternatives when the Primera Division season begins in late January.
Hearts are preparing for a transfer match.
Kilmarnock would have to work hard to turn down a bid of about £600,000 for Daniel Armstrong, as clubs from Scotland, Major League Soccer, the English Championship, and Hearts and Charlotte were all considering making a bid in January (TeamTalk).
Joe Savage, Hearts’ Sporting Director, acknowledged during a recent AGM that the team is considering a possible deal, suggesting that Hearts have a strong interest in the winger. Savage stated that bringing Armstrong in would require a million-pound agreement. However, TEAMtalk is aware that Kilmarnock would actually consider bids of about £600,000.
Many teams from the English Championship and Major League Soccer (MLS), including Charlotte FC, are interested in signing Armstrong due to his low-cost valuation. These American clubs are eager to entice Armstrong to the United States.
