Celtic is expected to sign English FA Cup winner and club icon “Celtic have the pull over him.”

Kieran Tierney is set to return to Arsenal next summer following his loan spell at Real Sociedad, but could a return to Celtic be on the cards?

Back during the 2023 summer transfer window, there was certainly a lot of talk about Kieran Tierney reuniting with Brendan Rodgers at Celtic.

But a move didn’t materialise, as the 26-year-old headed to Spain to join Champions League side, Real Sociedad until the end of the season.

One man who thinks Kieran Tierney will don the Celtic colours again is his former teammate and captain, Scott Brown.

The Bhoys hero stated that, whilst ‘clubs all over the world’ would want to sign the left-back, he feels that Celtic have the ‘pull over him’ because of his connections to the club, as he told The Glasgow Times.

At the age of 26, you feel that Kieran Tierney still has a few more levels to hit in his career, but injuries continue to halt his progression.

That has once again been highlighted during his loan spell in La Liga, with a hamstring issue keeping him out of action for over a month, including Scotland action.

Kieran Tierney return to Celtic?

“I’d love to see him back at Celtic, I would,” said Brown.

“He’s loved by all the fans and it’s such a huge club for him. It was a hard decision for him to leave because the club means so much to him. But at the same time he’s been away for that long now and experienced different things. Maybe he wants to experience other things now.

“There are a lot of clubs in England who’d take him. In fact, there are clubs all over the world who would take him, to be perfectly honest. But Celtic have that pull over him which is a great thing. I’d love to see it happen one day. You never know.

“His whole family support Celtic. He went to the games when he was a kid. I’ve seen the pictures of him with Naka (Shunsuke Nakamura) when he got his boots and things like that. It’s in his blood, Celtic.”

Kieran Tierney leaving Arsenal will boost Celtic’s chances

In 2019, Arsenal paid Celtic £25 million for Tierney’s talents. It was money the club couldn’t turn down, nor was it a move he could decline.

He more than proved his worth in England, becoming a fan favourite, putting in a number of high-quality performances and winning the English FA Cup.

But, once again, it was injuries that kept hurting him, which forced Arsenal to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko in 2022.

That put Tierney on the back burner again. This isn’t a case of the player not being good enough, but wanting regular starts so he has gone out to find them.

Come 2024, you would think that Tierney will be thinking down the same lines again.

All of which increases Celtic’s chances of possibly signing one of their own again.
