The return of a “emotional” Reo Hatate to the field prior to the Japanese midfielder’s departure for the Asian Cup thrilled Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.

Hatate came off the bench in Celtic’s 3-0 victory over St. Mirren to make his first appearance in ten weeks.

The 26-year-old looked to be in tears as Rodgers embraced him following the final whistle in Paisley. This layoff due to a hamstring injury was his third leg muscle ailment of 2023.

Hatate may not return until February after traveling to Qatar with Japan, but Rodgers is eager to watch the midfield player perform when he does.

West Ham lacks African talent due to a fixture move, which frustrates David Moyes.

The Celtics manager remarked, “You could see afterwards that he was actually quite emotional to be back out on the pitch.” “He is a huge contributor to our team and has worked incredibly hard.”

He will be crucial to us in the second part of the season when he returns, so maybe he can go away, get some playing time, and maintain his health.

Paulo Bernardo has improved significantly in recent weeks, so it’s likely that he will continue to be an important player while Hatate is away.

The 21-year-old midfielder on loan from Benfica, who had already scored goals against Rangers and Dundee in the previous two games, added two outstanding assists in Paisley.

According to Rodgers, patience is the key. “Big clubs don’t always have the patience for young players.” You can see him mature and flourish.

“That’s what usually occurs with young players if they have the proper mindset and attitude.

“In the past few games, he has entered and contributed to goals, scored goals, and established himself.” He is a dogged individual. utterly thrilled for him. Right now, consistency is key.

He may not be as dynamic as Hatate, but he’s a different kind of player who is a terrific learner nonetheless.

“He’s growing and getting better; he knows the runs and the pressing triggers.”

Four Celtic players will leave for Qatar: Yang Hyun-jun and Oh Hyeon-gyu will be called up by South Korea, and Daizen Maeda will join Hatate in the Japan squad.

But Kyogo Furuhashi, who was passed over by Japan, will stay with Celtic.

Reo was called up a little later, but Daizen was in the squad at first, according to Rodgers. “But even so, I was at ease because Kyogo has been in and out of the squad.” We looked at all the figures and potential outcomes.

But it goes without saying that it is excellent news for us if he stays. However, I’m sure he would have preferred to participate in it.
