Breaking: Celtic set to sign an Australian goalkeeper as a potential replacement for Joe Hart.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is already considering potential replacements for Joe Hart as Hart’s retirement approaches. Hart, a former England international, has played a pivotal role as Celtic’s goalkeeper, contributing his leadership and experience while securing five trophies during his time at Parkhead.

With 140 appearances for Celtic, Hart has kept 60 clean sheets and conceded 136 goals across various competitions, according to Transfermarkt. As the search for his successor begins, several names have been mentioned, including Michael Zetterer from Werder Bremen, Ugurcan Cakir from Trabzonspor, and Ettiene Vaessen from RC Waalwijk.

Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher has also been considered, but it seems unlikely that he will join Celtic. As the season progresses, more names are expected to surface, highlighting the importance of Celtic securing a new first-choice goalkeeper early in the upcoming 2024/25 pre-season.

Celtic is reportedly interested in Middlesbrough goalkeeper Tom Glover, who has kept five clean sheets in 20 appearances this season, according to FTBL AU and Transfermarkt. Rodgers views Glover as a potential replacement for Hart, although competition for his signature is fierce, with Rangers, Newcastle United, and Copenhagen also showing interest in the Australian Under-23 international. Danish club Copenhagen is particularly keen on Glover due to their interest in Kamil Grabara.

Despite performing well at the Riverside Stadium this season, Glover is facing surgery for a fractured finger issue, leading Seny Dieng to reclaim his position as Michael Carrick’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Boro may consider selling Glover once the transfer window opens as his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026, according to reports.

Based on FBRef data, Glover, who hails from Sydney, has achieved a save percentage of 68.8% in the Sky Bet Championship this season from 48 shots on target he has encountered.

With Celtic actively seeking a new goalkeeper, Glover has emerged as a compelling option for Rodgers to consider given Hart’s upcoming retirement.
