If Celtic win, we go four points clear and put plenty of pressure on Rangers and them needing to win their tricky game in hand at Dundee.
And to do that we need our best players available. This weekend we saw the return of Reo Hatate to the Celtic team in a timely boost ahead of the Rangers game.
But it wasn’t the Japanese midfielder that had left Jackie McNamara impressed at the weekend.
McNamara impressed with Carter-Vickers
The former Celtic hero was speaking about the Livingston win when he said that the American defender’s pace had left him blown away.
McNamara said [Scottish Football Podcast], “He’s never flustered. I think his biggest quality is, obviously, his strength. He reads the game very well. And he’s deceivingly quick as well.
“He uses his body and I think he’s a calming influence on the rest of the defence. At times they’ve looked a bit shaky over this over the season and get bullied a wee bit. We saw that at the Motherwell game.
“So I think he brings a real steeliness to the defence which sets up for everything else.”

Carter-Vickers‘ importance to this Celtic team has been highlighted by this site on numerous occasions over the past three seasons.
As McNamara says, he brings calmness to a defence that has, at times, looked chaotic when Carter-Vickers has been missing.
For Celtic to win at Ibrox on Sunday we will need Carter-Vickers to be in the side and after his display at Livingston on Sunday, the US defender is looking good, fit and up for the battle.
