“Big man”: Greg Taylor and Caoimhin Kelleher respond as the 26-year-old moves on following his departure from the Celtics

Some center backs from the English Premier League who are having trouble at Celtic must have something in the water.

The combination hasn’t worked well. That’s proven by the infamous spells of Nat Phillips and Shane Duffy.

The latter, who signed a six-month loan from Liverpool at the beginning of the season, may be trying to keep his contract extended past January by performing very well for Brendan Rodgers.

However, the truth is that Nat Phillips only played for 90 minutes once while wearing Celtic jerseys, and that was in his last encounter, in which he gave up an own goal in the team’s loss to Kilmarnock.

He was never seen again, even though he had weeks left on his loan at Parkhead. However, Liverpool just revealed on their website that he had signed a loan deal with Championship team Cardiff City, which will keep him there until the end of the season.

David Turnbull has also been linked to a move to the Welsh team, so it’s possible that the two will reunite before the January transfer window closes.

Nevertheless, Greg Taylor and Caoimhin Kelleher encouraged Nat Phillips on Instagram when he posted about how happy he was with his most recent action.

With eyes and a love emoji, the Celtics left-back, who is presently in the treatment room, wrote “congrats, big man.”

As Caoimhin Kelleher, Liverpol’s backup goalie and a potential Celtic transfer, said, “Good luck buddy,” she also included a fire emoji and raised palms.

Liam Scales outshone Nat Phillips

The Liverpool man only came in because there were injuries at the heart of the defence. But he was supposed to be the senior guy for the team and play a much bigger role than he did.

Instead, he watched Liam Scales, who was loaned out to Aberdeen last season and probably would have gone back if everyone was fit, showcase to the world what he is all about by taking his chance.

Yes, Cameron Carter-Vickers still remains the main man of the team at the back.

But it’s not the now-departed Phillips next to him, or any of the new signings, but a previously unfancied centre-back who is proving everyone wrong.
