Celtic’s transfer business has been and always will be from now until the end of the January window be brought into question.
The standard of players that Brendan Rodgers has brought in seems to be not good enough as reports suggest that at least four of the summer signings are about to be allowed to leave on loan.
With Rodgers claiming at the recent AGM that he signs off on all the players brought into the club, there have been doubts raised on that claim by journalist and pundit, Peter Martin.
Speaking to Stephen McGowan about Celtic’s transfer model, the Daily Mail journalist suggested that Rodgers was ‘landed’ with players that he hadn’t picked, Martin said it’s a fact that the Hoops gaffer didn’t pick all of the summer additions.
Martin said [PLZ Soccer], “You say it as a question, I’m glad you brought it up, it’s an absolute fact and anybody who puts it out there is quickly reigned in and the calls are being made.
“But it’s a fact he didn’t pick them all. He wanted four players, we said it in the summer and some of us were quickly chastised for saying it.
“And then two weeks ago Brendon Rodgers came out and said, ‘I wanted four players I didn’t get them’, I mean that tells you all you need to know.”
All I can say here on TBR Celtic is that if Rodgers says he’s had a hand in all the signings then you need to take the Celtic manager’s word for it.
But what Rodgers also must do is start to take accountability for these signings as, clearly, if you are looking to get rid of players just six months into their Celtic career then there has been a major failing somewhere in the Parkhead recruitment line.
What is for sure is that Brendan Rodgers must get his next transfer window correct because there is a very real possibility that this league title could be about to slip from his grasp this season.
