Alistair Johnston Raves About “Extremely Talented” Celtic Youngster

Alistair Johnston, a right-back for Celtic, has been gushing about a younger member of the Hoops.

Against Motherwell over the weekend, the Canadian defender made a mask-wearing comeback to the starting lineup. But he took it off as soon as the hosts took a 1-0 lead. He subsequently acknowledged that it obstructed his peripheral vision and that he felt it had to go.

Johnston was far more effective when he played with a clear conscience. With ease, he moved up and down the right-hand side, setting up Adam Idah for the vital go-ahead goal for the Celtics.

His output in the second half was primarily derived from his collaboration with Yang, the winger. With around 30 minutes remaining, the South Korean wide player entered the game and had a significant influence.

He also assisted with the goal, slicing the ball across his face so Luis Palma could tap it in. The 21-year-old should start tonight’s game against Dundee, as many Celtic supporters have rightfully demanded, and Johnston has been impressed with him ever since he got to Glasgow.

The South Korean international, who was signed from Gangwon FC last summer, has had difficulty establishing consistency in Glasgow in terms of playing time. However, a veteran member of the team, Johnston, has praised him, saying, “Yang is an extremely talented footballer” (Celtic FC on YouTube).

“He seems young, maybe 21 years old, but if he can improve his consistency and final product, he has the potential to be a very good winger.”He’s displayed hints of it.

“I think he’s done really well for a player coming here in his first year in a foreign language, foreign country.”

“(Celtic) is a difficult club to break into, particularly if you’re attempting to replace someone like Jota, for example.

“I think he did a pretty good job, and we’ll see what happens to him over the next few months.”

All the signs point to Yang starting this evening against Dundee. A few days ago, he was far more influential off the bench than other Celtic wingers have been in recent memory.

Johnston is obviously in awe of Yang’s abilities, and at just 21 years old, he still has a lot of time and space for growth.
