Adam Idah’s “Outstanding” Victory Over Celtic in the Vital Title Race

"Outstanding" Adam Idah Rescues Celtic In Crucial Title Race Win
In the Scottish Premiership, Celtic overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat Motherwell away from home this afternoon thanks to two goals from substitute Adam Idah.

The victory keeps the pressure on Celtic, who now trail Glasgow rivals Rangers in the title race by two points, so it might be important at the conclusion of the season.

With a fantastic long-range strike from outside the box to give the hosts a 1-0 lead at the half, Brendan Rodgers’ team faced a formidable task going into the second half.

During the half, it was evident that Rodgers needed to make a change. He chose to start Idah in lieu of Kyogo Furuhashi up front.

Idah’s first goal after 51 minutes was a stunning header into the bottom corner of the net.

While that certainly lifted them, Celtic were left to chase an all-important winner and as the game entered additional time it looked as if they were going to drop two points.

Step forward the dynamic Cork man who in the 93rd minute poked in another goal in clinical fashion. Two minutes later Luis Palma ensured the three points by scoring Celtic’s third goal.

Idah was named Man of the Match following his performance and was understandably delighted after the game.

“It was a tough 45 minutes. We spoke at half-time on what we needed to do together as a team, stick to what our game plan is and to be fair to everyone we did that well and got three points,” he said.

“Ever since I’ve been at this team, we’ve had that attitude of never give up and go to the end, the boys done that today.”

“I’m excited to keep on going.”

Rodgers gave Idah more credit for his influence.

“Adam came in and he was outstanding today,” he stated.

“It was an absolutely incredible header…that allowed us to feel a lot better and then the other two goals were fantastic.”

When Idah was signed on loan from Norwich at the end of January many Celtic fans and ex-players criticised the move but Rodger’s was quick to defend it and having bagged four goals since his arrival it seems to have been good business.
