Adam Idah: ‘I can’t even put into words what it’s like to be at Celtic’

Oh Hyeon-gyu’s international commitments will keep Kyogo Furuhashi, the starting striker, competitive with Idah.

After moving from Norwich to Celtic on loan until the conclusion of the current campaign, Adam Idah found it difficult to express how happy he was.

Celtic confirm loan signing of Irish striker Adam Idah

The 22-year-old attacker from the Republic of Ireland joined the Canaries as a youth player and has since made 115 appearances for the team, tallying 17 goals, including seven this year.

Kyogo Furuhashi, the starting striker, will have competition from Idah while Oh Hyeon-gyu is representing South Korea internationally at the Asian Cup.

“It’s such a huge club with such a big history behind it and I can’t even put into words what it’s like to be at Celtic,” the Corkman stated in an interview with Celtic TV.

“I’m thrilled to be here, and my friends and family are even more excited to get started.

“It means a lot to me and I’m thrilled to be here since we all support Celtic back home.

“I want to play games, I want to help this team and the aim for me is to win those two trophies and I want to score a lot of goals for this club.”

Idah is Brendan Rodgers’ second January transfer acquisition after he signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Rapid Vienna’s German winger Nicolas Kuhn.

On deadline day, there were two exits at Celtic Park: David Turnbull completed a permanent move to Cardiff, and Mikey Johnston went on loan to West Brom.

Turnbull joined Celtic from Motherwell in 2020 and finished 125 appearances with 31 goals and 23 assists; however, his contract was due to expire at the end of the current campaign.

The 24-year-old stated on Cardiff’s website: “I was excited to learn about the interest.” The club is really large. I’ve seen them before and want to get involved right now.”
