Reporter shares Celtic transfer update on Matt O’Riley

Through Football Insider reporter Pete O’Rourke, a “huge” transfer update on the future of a “top player” at Celtic has surfaced.

The Celtics’ future for Matt O’Riley

Though the Hoops have a number of important players on the field, Matt O’Riley is one who has undoubtedly distinguished himself as a standout player this year. With 22 Scottish Premiership games to date, the 23-year-old has been one of the team’s most productive attacking players, if not the most, with 14 goal contributions (nine goals and five assists).

However, concerningly for Celtic, O’Riley has recently been associated with several Premier League teams; in January, West Ham, Newcastle United, and Tottenham were all reported as potential suitors. That demonstrates the caliber of play at which he is now operating, and hoops fans will undoubtedly be itching for him to be around as long as possible.

The Denmark international’s future at Parkhead has now become somewhat clearer after a significant report surfaced on his decision to stay or depart next month.

Report reveals a crucial Update from Matt O’Riley

Despite the aforementioned connections to elite English clubs, O’Rourke wrote for Football Insider that Riley wants to stay at Celtic past the January transfer window and that the Hoops would need to pay a “huge” amount before ever considering letting go of the player.

“Sources close to Football Insider say that despite Premier League interest, Celtic star Matt O’Riley wants to stay at the team come January. The 23-year-old is said to be a Celtic fan and to be loving his football under manager Brendan Rodgers.

“Inside Track Podcast host Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider said that Celtic would require a “large” payment before even considering letting him play this winter. The Danish international is expected to draw a lot of interest from England and other countries this summer, but his first goal is to help Celtic win the league title in Glasgow.”

In light of how important O’Riley is to Brendan Rodgers’ team’s chances of winning the Scottish Premiership once more this year, this is wonderful news for any Celtic supporter. It would be devastating to lose the attacking midfield player in the middle of the season because he has been the team’s creative center and joint top scorer thus far.

Peter Kjaer, a Danish analyst, recently praised the Hoops hero and expressed his admiration for what he had seen in him.

“O’Riley is an excellent player; I’ve seen him play. He’s terrific, too, according to the national coach, I know. He has been watching him since he mentioned him prior to the 2022 World Cup.

In January, Brendan Rodgers is not playing around at Celtic.

O’Riley may feel that a new challenge is more appealing after the end of this season, and Celtic may have to accept that. However, for the time being, holding onto him for the remainder of 2023–2024 must come first before evaluating the situation next summer.
