Bryce Young’s first season with the Carolina Panthers was not successful due to a poor supporting cast. However, the quarterback is looking forward to working with new weapons like Diontae Johnson and Xavier Legette in his second year.
“I’m really excited to have some new pieces,” Bryce Young told Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “Now it’s up to us to put in the effort, establish the chemistry, get the repetitions on the field, and make it work. I’m glad the men are coming in. They all have excellent work ethics, positive attitudes, and outlooks. Everyone wants the same thing. We all want to win. We all want to contribute to victory in whatever way we can. Give all for the team. We’re all excited about it. It’s usually a good idea to try new and different juices. Now it’s up to us to do the work to have it translated.”
The Panthers are seen as one of the lesser teams heading into the 2024 NFL season. However, the major goal is to give Young a chance to flourish and show signs of being a franchise quarterback. While it may not put the Panthers in contention, it would be a significant step forward for the franchise and a foundation for 2025.
Panthers’ 2024 success strategy
A successful season for the Panthers in 2024 is mentioned above, so what will it take to achieve that? The first stage is for new head coach Dave Canales to establish stability as a leader for Young and the entire club.
rookie came in, and his head coach, Frank Reich, was fired during the season, which cannot be helpful for any rookie quarterback. It could have been the right decision, but it’s difficult to get out to that kind of start in the NFL in that situation. Dave Canales has a high reputation from his work with Baker Mayfield with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023.
The Panthers made substantial expenditures in the offensive line this offseason, adding players like Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis. This is in addition to former No. 6 pick Ikem Ekwonu, who the organization expects to become a franchise left tackle. This unit may be more crucial than the new weapons, since a rookie quarterback may struggle to thrive if he is not kept upright.
The new wide receiver trio of Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen, and Xavier Legette should be a significant upgrade over last year’s bunch, even if it is far from outstanding.
It will be intriguing to see how Young looks during training camp and the upcoming season.
