Adam Idah will be disappointed that he has been unable to assert himself as a real asset for Norwich City during his time at Carrow Road.

Representing the Republic of Ireland at a senior international level and being tipped for big things when he was younger, he should arguably be firing on all cylinders for the Canaries now.

But his time in Norfolk hasn’t gone totally to plan, making it no real surprise that he has gone out on loan.

In terms of goals though, he did much better this term and even registered a brace against Plymouth Argyle back in September, but sealed a temporary switch to Celtic during the January transfer window this year.

This move north of the border provided the Irishman with a fresh start, even if it’s temporary with the Scottish outfit not negotiating an option to buy the player in this deal.

Adam Idah’s stance on permanent Celtic move

Brendan Rodgers Celtic

The 23-year-old has enjoyed an excellent time in Glasgow so far, registering five goals and one assist in six competitive appearances for the Scottish side.

His goals, all of them coming in the league, have allowed Brendan Rodgers’ side to record an extra six points, with the striker scoring braces in a 2-1 at Hibernian and a 3-1 victory at Motherwell. Idah also registered an assist in a 1-1 draw against Aberdeen, reinforcing his importance.

The Norwich loanee was in the goals again on Wednesday night as Celtic hammered Dundee 7-1 – with the only negative from the midweek games being Rangers’ 2-1 win keeps them two points clear at the top.

With the player doing well north of the border, it’s perhaps no surprise that he is reportedly open to a permanent move to his current loan club.

Football Insider believes the potential opportunity to play in the Champions League is a key factor in Idah’s stance.

Adam Idah’s stance on permanent Celtic switch is no shock

The 23-year-old has made a new beginning at his current loan club and he is certainly making himself feel at home there. He’s hit the ground running there and clearly enjoying his football.

Managing to thrive there and score five league goals for the title challengers already, the opportunity to compete for a league trophy and play European football every season will be appealing for him.

Norwich may have been in and out of the Premier League but Celtic is a massive club, with a huge fanbase around the world, so it’s understandable that Idah would want to stay on at Parkhead beyond this term.

Another reason why his stance isn’t a major surprise is because he hasn’t burst into life for Norwich at a senior level yet. Although he’s only 23 and still has a contract at Carrow Road until 2028, he has struggled at times in Norfolk and rarely produced the sort of form we’re seeing from him in green and white at the moment.

It’s clicked for him at Celtic as it never quite has for Norwich so even the most passionate of Canaries fans will surely understand why he is keen to sign permanently.

The Championship club will certainly be well compensated – particularly if he keeps firing them in for Rodgers’ side.
