“Don’t Interview Me” Furious Chris Fagan Standing by AFL Tribunal’s Decision.

Brisbane coach Chris Fagan has stood firm in support of the AFL Tribunal’s decision to overturn star forward Charlie Cameron’s one-match suspension for a dangerous tackle. The tribunal downgraded Cameron’s penalty to a fine, citing his exemplary record as a crucial factor.

The decision has sparked controversy, with Geelong coach Chris Scott expressing his dismay, suggesting that sparing Cameron implies other players have inferior character. However, Fagan, speaking on Friday, vigorously defended the tribunal’s call to downgrade Cameron’s tackle from ‘medium’ to ‘low’ impact.

Fagan emphasized the use of all available resources to advocate for their player’s cause, as is customary for every club. While Cameron’s clean disciplinary record was mentioned, Fagan clarified that it wasn’t the sole reason for the downgrade.

He highlighted that the lack of injury to Melbourne’s Jake Lever and absence of a concussion test or medical report contributed to the assessment of the incident as having low impact. Fagan grew frustrated with persistent questioning from a journalist and redirected them to the Tribunal for further inquiry.

With Brisbane set to face Geelong on Saturday evening, Fagan’s attention turns to the upcoming match, with both teams aiming for continued success. Geelong seeks to maintain their unbeaten start to 2024, while Brisbane aims for a third consecutive victory to build momentum after a challenging start to the season.
