The incident occurred during the second quarter of Saturday’s game between the Lions and Tigers, when Hipwood grabbed Vlastuin, who was in possession of the ball, before twisting him and tackling him to the ground at high speed.

The MRO judged Hipwood’s conduct irresponsible, grading the tackle as high contact and medium impact, and imposed a one-game punishment.

If accepted, Hipwood will miss Brisbane’s upcoming Round 11 game against Hawthorn. He can appeal the charge before the AFL Tribunal.

Vlastuin also received an MRO charge after striking Hipwood in the second term, for which the Tigers defender was fined.

The strike was classified as purposeful behavior, mild impact, and bodily contact, resulting in a $3750 fine with an early plea.

If challenged and unsuccessful, Vlastuin would be required to pay an enhanced fine of $6250.

Adelaide’s Match Crouch and Collingwood’s Lachie Sullivan were both charged with careless contact with an umpire.

The couple must accept $1250 in fines with early pleas or face additional fines of $1875 if they are unsuccessful in appealing the accusation.
