The North Queensland Cowboys have released second-rower Jack Gosiewski from the remainder of his contract on compassionate grounds. The forward will join the Brisbane Broncos.

The Red Hill-based club confirmed on Monday afternoon that Gosiewski has signed with Brisbane until at least the end of 2025. Coach Kevin Walters praised the signing.

“Jack brings a good work ethic and an ability to play his role, so he will fit right in here with what we are building together at the Broncos,” Walters said in a statement released by the team.

“He will give us some extra depth in the forwards and if he puts the work in then I’m sure he will get some opportunities as we move into the season.”

Gosiewski, a key member of the Cowboys’ forward pack who came off the bench, will leave after appearing in five games this season.

After 13 games with the Cowboys, he has previously played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Manly Sea Eagles, and St George Illawarra Dragons.

“We’d like to thank Jack for his contributions to our club over the last 18 months,” Cowboys General Manager of Football Michael Luck stated on Sunday evening.

“Jack’s experience and work ethic have had a positive impact on our talented group of young edge forwards.”

“We wish Jack and his family the best of luck in the future.”

The Cowboys confirmed Gosiewski’s departure just days after announcing Harrison Edwards’ signing from Canterbury Bulldogs.

Edwards has signed with the Townsville club until the end of the 2025 season, with the option to extend his contract for another season.

The ex-Bulldogs player has played 17 NRL games in the past three seasons and will aim to make an immediate impact under Todd Payten.
