JUST IN: Tomkinson pays tribute to Bantams after season-long loan spell

CITY decided to release Jon Tomkinson while he was on loan for the season. Despite not playing in his last match at Valley Parade against Newport over the weekend, the 22-year-old made a total of 28 appearances after joining from Norwich at the end of last summer’s transfer window.

His father, David, expressed gratitude on Twitter, saying, “It’s been an honor to follow Bradford’s journey this season. Thank you, Bantams fans, for supporting JT and the team. The club has fantastic support, and you deserve more success.”

Texan Tomkinson had to wait for his opportunity after Mark Hughes brought him in, playing only once as a substitute under the Welshman. His first start for City came in the EFL Trophy against Manchester City under-21s during Kevin McDonald’s temporary tenure. This marked the beginning of a consistent run in the team, with Tomkinson starting 17 league games and featuring in five matches during City’s Trophy semi-final run.

Additionally, Tomkinson has earned a place in the USA under-23s team for the upcoming Olympics in Paris. Reflecting on his time at City, he shared on Instagram, “The 23/24 season is over, and what a journey it has been. Playing for this special club and being part of a great dressing room has been a pleasure. Thank you for all the love and support. Bradford will always be special to me.”
