Former AFC Bournemouth star Dan Gosling has announced his retirement from football.
The midfielder initially joined the Cherries in May 2014, helping the club to promotion to the Premier League during his first campaign in Dorset.
He then played a key role in keeping AFC Bournemouth in the top flight for five successive seasons, the club’s first campaigns at England’s elite level.
After signing on a free transfer from Newcastle United, the former England under-21 international went on to make a total of 192 appearances for the Cherries, scoring 22 goals. He departed to join Watford in January 2021.
The 34-year-old is now set to take up a position as under-21 assistant coach at Vicarage Road alongside fellow former Cherries star Charlie Daniels, who is the lead coach at the Hornets.
Brixham-born Gosling started his career with Plymouth Argyle, before moving to Everton in 2008.
He went on to feature for the likes of Newcastle, Blackpool, Notts County and Watford as well as the Cherries.
Gosling’s highest number of club appearances throughout his career came at AFC Bournemouth. He is also the club’s all-time top scorer in the League Cup, with eight goals coming in total.
