Type O Negative Officially Announce Reunion Tribute Shows Honoring Peter Steele in 2025
In a long-awaited moment for fans around the world, Type O Negative have officially announced a series of reunion tribute shows set to take place in late 2025, honoring their late frontman, Peter Steele. The announcement, made via the band’s verified social media channels and website, marks the first time the surviving members will reunite on stage since Steele’s passing in 2010.
Guitarist Kenny Hickey, keyboardist Josh Silver, and drummer Johnny Kelly will lead the performances, joined by a rotating lineup of special guest vocalists handpicked to capture the essence and emotional weight of Steele’s iconic baritone voice. Rather than attempt to replace him, the band has made it clear that this is a tribute — a celebration of the man whose haunting lyrics, towering stage presence, and sardonic humor made Type O Negative a defining force in gothic metal.
“We’ve been carrying Peter’s memory in our hearts every day,” said Kenny Hickey in the official statement. “This isn’t about starting over — it’s about giving fans the chance to experience the music live again, the way Peter would’ve wanted: loud, emotional, and unapologetically honest.”
The tour, titled A Symphony of Shadows: A Tribute to Peter Steele, will kick off in Brooklyn, New York, this October, with stops planned in major cities across North America and Europe, including London, Berlin, and Los Angeles.
Alongside the tour, the band also announced a deluxe remastered edition of October Rust, featuring unreleased demos, live tracks, and a hardcover booklet of never-before-seen photos and personal notes from the band’s archives.
Tickets go on sale this May, and anticipation is already at a fever pitch. For longtime fans, this isn’t just a concert — it’s a farewell, a homecoming, and a chance to stand in the shadow of greatness one
more time.
