Type O Negative Announces First New Album in Over 15 Years and Global Tour
In a monumental announcement that has thrilled fans worldwide, gothic metal pioneers Type O Negative have revealed plans for their first new album since 2007, alongside a global tour set to commence in late 2025.
The forthcoming album, titled “Shadows of the Afterlife,” is slated for release in October 2025. This marks the band’s first studio project since the passing of iconic frontman Peter Steele in 2010. Guitarist Kenny Hickey shared that the album will feature previously unreleased vocal tracks from Steele, meticulously integrated with new instrumental recordings by the remaining band members. “It’s our way of honoring Peter’s legacy and bringing his voice back to the fans,” Hickey stated.
In conjunction with the album release, Type O Negative will embark on the “Resurrection Tour,” a worldwide journey beginning in November 2025. The tour aims to celebrate the band’s enduring impact on the gothic metal scene and introduce their music to a new generation of listeners. Drummer Johnny Kelly expressed enthusiasm about the tour, noting that it will feature a blend of classic hits and new material, delivering a comprehensive experience for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
The tour will include stops across North America, Europe, and select dates in Africa, with a highly anticipated performance in Lagos, Nigeria. This marks the band’s first appearance on the African continent, reflecting their commitment to reaching a global audience.
Tickets for the “Resurrection Tour” will go on sale starting June 1, 2025, through official ticketing platforms. Fans are encouraged to secure their spots early, as demand is expected to be high.
