  • System of a Down Announces Long-Awaited New Album: “Resurgence” Set for Release in 2025

March 11, 2025 – After years of anticipation, System of a Down has officially announced the release of their first studio album in over 20 years. Titled Resurgence, the new album is set to drop on June 15, 2025, much to the excitement of fans worldwide.

The band made the announcement on social media, sharing a cryptic video with a brief preview of new music. The video, which features a mix of heavy guitar riffs and Serj Tankian’s signature dynamic vocals, sparked immediate speculation among fans who have been hoping for new material since Hypnotize in 2005. The announcement marks a major milestone in the band’s career, especially after their sporadic single releases in recent years, such as “Genocidal Humanoidz” and “Protect the Land.”

Speaking about the new album, guitarist Daron Malakian expressed his excitement: “We’ve been working on this album for a long time, and it’s a culmination of everything we’ve experienced and learned as a band. It’s an album that speaks to the current state of the world, just like our earlier work, but also reflects the evolution of who we are today.”

Resurgence is expected to feature a mix of the band’s signature blend of progressive metal, rock, and political themes. Fans can expect new sounds, as well as the hard-hitting commentary System of a Down is known for.

In addition to the album release, the band has confirmed a worldwide tour to follow in late 2025, promising a fresh live experience. Pre-order details for Resurgence and ticket sales for the upcoming shows will be available on the band’s official website soon.

For now, System of a Down fans can rejoice – the wait is finally over. The band’s return promises to be as impactful and revolutionary as their

early work.
