Soundgarden Announce Unreleased Album with Chris Cornell Vocals Ahead of Global Reunion Show
In a stunning revelation that has electrified the rock world, Soundgarden has officially announced the upcoming release of an unreleased album featuring vocals by the late Chris Cornell. This marks the band’s first new project since Cornell’s tragic death in 2017 and offers fans an emotional and long-awaited reunion with the voice that defined a generation.
The news arrives ahead of the band’s highly anticipated global charity reunion show, “Echoes for a Cause,” scheduled for July 17, 2025, at Wembley Stadium. The surviving members—Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron, and Ben Shepherd—shared that the album consists of recordings originally started before Cornell’s death and recently completed in studio sessions honoring the band’s signature sound.
“These are songs we started with Chris and always intended to finish,” said Thayil. “It was important that we do this the right way—not just for us, but for him and the fans.”
The album will include 10 previously unheard tracks, blending Soundgarden’s iconic heavy guitar work and experimental rhythms with Cornell’s powerful and haunting vocals. Longtime producer Jack Endino returned to help shape the final product, ensuring the sound remains faithful to the band’s roots.
This release also marks the resolution of a years-long legal battle between the band and Chris Cornell’s estate over the rights to the recordings. With full support from Cornell’s family, the project is now moving forward, and a lead single is expected to debut live at the Wembley concert.
For fans of Soundgarden and Chris Cornell, this announcement is more than just new music—it’s a celebration of legacy, closure, and the enduring power of one of rock’s most influential voices. The album is slated for release in late 2025, making it one of the most anticipated rock albums of
the decade.
