Netflix has confirmed the release of a brand-new documentary centered on the life, legacy, and resilience of metalcore titans We Came As Romans. Titled “Dark Bloom: The We Came As Romans Story,” the documentary is set to premiere globally on May 17, 2025.
The film promises a raw, emotional, and inspiring look at the band’s journey—from their early days breaking into the metalcore scene to the tragic loss of founding member and clean vocalist Kyle Pavone in 2018, and their powerful resurgence in the years that followed. According to Netflix, the documentary will include never-before-seen footage, exclusive interviews, and behind-the-scenes access chronicling their evolution, heartbreak, and rebirth.
Fans can expect intimate commentary from band members Dave Stephens, Joshua Moore, Lou Cotton, Andy Glass, and David Puckett, as well as appearances from other notable artists within the rock and alternative scenes. The film also explores the impact of grief and healing through music, highlighting the band’s courage to carry on in Pavone’s memory.
“We wanted to tell our story in the most honest way possible,” said guitarist Joshua Moore in a statement. “This film is for Kyle, for our fans, and for anyone who’s ever battled darkness and found hope through music.”
The announcement comes just months before the band embarks on a new leg of their 2025 world tour, making the documentary’s release even more timely and emotional. With a devoted fanbase and a legacy of resilience, “Dark Bloom” is expected to draw in viewers well beyond the metalcore scene.
Netflix subscribers and WCAR fans alike are marking their calendars—May 17th is shaping up to be a powerful day in music storytelling.
