Netflix Announces Keane Documentary Release Date
Netflix has officially announced the release date for its highly anticipated documentary on British rock band Keane. Titled Keane: The Soundtrack of a Generation, the documentary will premiere on the streaming platform on October 18, 2025. This in-depth film will chronicle the band’s rise to fame, their musical evolution, and the challenges they faced over the years.
Keane, best known for hits such as Somewhere Only We Know, Everybody’s Changing, and Is It Any Wonder?, became one of the most influential alternative rock bands of the 2000s. The documentary promises never-before-seen footage, behind-the-scenes moments, and exclusive interviews with band members Tim Rice-Oxley, Tom Chaplin, Richard Hughes, and Jesse Quin.
According to Netflix, Keane: The Soundtrack of a Generation will explore the band’s humble beginnings in East Sussex, their meteoric rise with the debut album Hopes and Fears, and their struggles with internal conflicts, addiction, and the pressure of fame. The film will also highlight their eventual hiatus and triumphant return to music.
The documentary will include insights from fellow musicians, music critics, and industry insiders who witnessed Keane’s impact on the music scene. It will also feature never-before-heard demos and archival recordings that will give fans a deeper understanding of the band’s creative process.
Speaking about the film, frontman Tom Chaplin expressed his excitement: “It’s surreal to look back at everything we’ve been through as a band. There were moments of pure joy and some of real struggle. This documentary captures the essence of Keane and our journey. We can’t wait for the fans to see it.”
Music historian and critic David Smyth praised Netflix’s decision to produce a documentary on Keane, noting their significant influence on the alternative and pop-rock scenes. “Keane’s ability to create emotional, piano-driven anthems set them apart. Their music still resonates with fans around the world,” he said.
With Keane: The Soundtrack of a Generation set to drop this October, fans eagerly anticipate a nostalgic and revealing look at one of the UK’s most beloved bands.
