MAYHEM Announces New Album and World Tour to Celebrate 40 Years of Black Metal Chaos
In a monumental announcement that has thrilled fans worldwide, Mayhem, the godfathers of Norwegian black metal, have officially confirmed the release of a new studio album and a massive world tour to celebrate their 40th anniversary.
The band, known for their dark legacy and relentless innovation, revealed that the new album is set for release later this year. Guitarists Teloch and Ghul have reportedly written over 20 new tracks, promising a record that will blend Mayhem’s ferocious past with bold new elements. Early descriptions hint at a sound that is heavier, more atmospheric, and even more uncompromising than their previous works. This album will be the first full-length release since 2019’s critically acclaimed Daemon.
To accompany the album launch, Mayhem will embark on a world tour, covering Europe, North America, South America, and Australia. This marks the band’s grand return to international stages after health setbacks forced them to postpone several dates in 2024. The upcoming performances are expected to be a powerful retrospective, featuring songs spanning their entire brutal career — from early classics like Deathcrush and Freezing Moon to newer anthems.
Vocalist Attila Csihar, bassist Necrobutcher, and the rest of the lineup promise a show unlike anything fans have seen before, combining devastating live energy with haunting stage productions.
Fans can expect the first single from the album to be released in the summer, alongside full tour dates and ticket information.
After four decades of infamy, Mayhem proves once again that their reign over black metal remains unshaken — and the true chaos is just beginning.
