After a period of relative quiet, Grammy Award-winning rock band Kings of Leon has officially announced their highly anticipated ninth studio album titled Echoes from the South, scheduled for release in Fall 2025. The announcement, made through the band’s official social media channels and website, has sparked excitement among fans worldwide who have been eagerly awaiting new material since their last album When You See Yourself dropped in 2021.
The new album is being described by the band as a “return to roots with a modern twist,” blending the raw southern rock energy of their earlier work with evolved lyrical themes and sonic experimentation. The title Echoes from the South reflects the band’s deep ties to their Nashville heritage and the southern United States, which has long served as the heartbeat of their signature sound.
In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, frontman Caleb Followill shared insights into the creative process: “We went back to Tennessee and just jammed. No pressure, just four guys in a room with instruments. The songs came out like stories—memories, feelings, and visions of the South we grew up in, but seen through the eyes of who we are today.”
The album will feature 12 tracks, with titles like Golden Dust, Front Porch Skies, Mississippi Rain, and Neon Chapel, hinting at a rich emotional and cultural palette. Kings of Leon collaborated with longtime producer Angelo Petraglia, who helped shape the sound of their early albums like Youth and Young Manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak. Also joining the production team is acclaimed mixer Andrew Scheps, known for his work with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Adele.
The lead single, Midnight Highway, is set to drop in mid-September and is already being hyped as a guitar-driven anthem with powerful vocals and introspective lyrics. A teaser of the song posted on Instagram offered a 30-second clip featuring Caleb’s gritty voice over a slow-building instrumental—a sound fans immediately identified as classic Kings of Leon.
In addition to the album, the band has announced plans for a world tour in 2026, which will kick off in the U.S. before heading to Europe and Australia. Pre-sale access for the tour will be available to fans who pre-order the album through the band’s official website.
With Echoes from the South, Kings of Leon seem poised to not only satisfy longtime followers but also reach a new generation of rock enthusiasts. If the early buzz is any indication, this fall could mark one of the most powerful musical comebacks of the year.
