The surviving members of The Doors have confirmed a 2025 reunion tour—with a powerful new lineup designed to reintroduce the band’s iconic sound to a new generation.
Titled “Break On Through: The Next Fire Tour,” the reunion will feature original Doors members Robby Krieger (guitar) and John Densmore (drums), now in their late seventies, sharing the stage once more. This marks their first collaborative tour since the early 2000s and the first major live Doors project since the tragic passing of frontman Jim Morrison in 1971.
“We’ve always said The Doors wasn’t just a band—it was a state of mind,” Krieger said in a press release this morning. “This tour isn’t about replacing Jim. No one ever could. It’s about honoring that mind, that spirit, and letting the fire burn again through some extraordinary young voices.”
The most talked-about addition is the new lead vocalist, Kai Phoenix, a dynamic and theatrical performer known for his powerful baritone and poetic, Morrison-esque delivery. Discovered performing in underground clubs in New Orleans, Phoenix reportedly caught Densmore’s attention with a haunting rendition of “The End” during a tribute set in early 2024.
Rounding out the new lineup is Lana Reyes, a classically trained keyboardist from Barcelona who fuses jazz, rock, and psychedelia in a way reminiscent of the late Ray Manzarek. Reyes has already earned critical acclaim for her performances with European progressive rock groups.
The Doors’ reunion tour is set to span 20 cities worldwide, kicking off in Los Angeles on April 4, 2025—the city where the band was born—and finishing in Paris, where Jim Morrison’s spirit still lingers. Iconic venues such as The Fillmore, Red Rocks, and the Royal Albert Hall will host this once-in-a-generation event.
In addition to reimagined performances of classic hits like “Riders on the Storm,” “People Are Strange,” “L.A. Woman,” and “Light My Fire,” the tour will include original new material inspired by The Doors’ poetic and provocative legacy.
Longtime fans have expressed excitement, disbelief, and emotion at the news.
“I never thought I’d live to see a Doors tour again,” wrote one user on X. “Jim’s soul still walks among us. I can feel it.”
Tickets go on sale next Friday, with exclusive vinyl and visual collectibles planned to commemorate the event.
As Krieger put it, “We’re not just lighting the fire—we’re throwing gasoline on it.”
