The Lancashire team has dropped to 18th place in the Championship standings after losing their last eight league games. Despite playing at home for both of their recent league games against relegation-threatened teams, QPR and Huddersfield Town, they only managed to pick up one point out of a possible six.
Before Blackburn is drawn even deeper into the relegation battle, they have to rapidly turn things around. We do not yet know if this will result in Jon Dahl Tomasson leaving, but there will definitely be pressure on him.
Tomasson stated that he was prepared to leave the team in the summer after the club’s transfer budget was reduced, following his team’s weekend loss to QPR.It was also disclosed that the manager’s absence from Friday’s pre-match press conference was due to a “club decision.”
Given that there are indications that Tomasson may leave before the season ends, Football League World has selected three managers that the team may like to take into consideration.
1 Sara Lamouchi
Lamouchi, who was most recently at Cardiff City, would be a great addition to any Championship team that is in the bottom half. Even though he was only at Cardiff for four months, he was able to keep the team out of the drop zone at the end of the season—something Blackburn will be hoping for if things continue as they have in recent weeks.
Even though Nottingham Forest spent a significant amount of the 2019–20 season in the play-off spots, he led the team to a 7th-place finish.
During his tenure at the City Ground, the Frenchman was named Championship Manager of the Month twice, and the team’s seventh-place result was the highest for the club in eight seasons.
Although Lamouchi has received criticism in the past for playing a defensive and “negative” style of football, Blackburn could use some defensive consistency right now. Despite having the poorest defensive record in the league right now, Lamouchi would try to make them difficult to beat.
2 Sara Lamouchi
With Birmingham City, Eustace had an excellent start to the season, amassing 18 points from 11 games and guiding the team to sixth position in the league. However, he was unjustly deprived of his responsibilities shortly after, giving Wayne Rooney, who had a terrible time leading the Blues, his place.
Since then, the 44-year-old has been unemployed, and many Championship teams, including Blackburn Rovers, would be wise to appoint him. With the support of the team and fans, he has already briefly demonstrated his ability to lead a team to the top of the table, and he would welcome the chance to establish himself even more in the division.
In his first season as a senior manager last year, he guided the Blues to a 17th-place finish against the odds against them, Birmingham.
3 Michael Duff
Duff took over Swansea City at the start of the season, and despite his difficult tenure in South Wales, he might be searching for another Championship position to establish himself in the lower division.
Having won the League Two championship with Cheltenham Town and guided Barnsley to the League One play-off final the previous season, before losing to Sheffield Wednesday, the Northern Irishman has already shown his mettle in the fourth and third tiers.
His winning talents are clear; all he needs is some time in the second tier to develop an identity and get to know his players. He may also be able to address Blackburn’s obvious defensive problems because he was a center-back throughout his playing career.
