QPR deal Blackburn Rovers fatal transfer blow

QPR has officially confirmed that defender Jimmy Dunne will stay with the club for the upcoming season. Blackburn Rovers’ pursuit of Dunne has been effectively ended with this announcement.

The 26-year-old, who was set to become a free agent, will remain at Loftus Road after becoming an integral part of Marti Cifuentes’ Championship survival strategy, making 29 league appearances and impressing particularly in a right-back role towards the end of the season. Dunne expressed his happiness about staying at QPR, emphasizing his love for the club and its values.

Despite reported interest from Blackburn Rovers, who were looking to sign Dunne on a free transfer and saw him as a potential replacement for James Hill, Dunne will now embark on his fourth season with QPR as they aim to improve in the upcoming campaign. The former Manchester United academy product joined QPR from Burnley in 2021.

Dunne’s memorable volley against Birmingham City earned him QPR’s Goal of the Season award this term, highlighting his contributions to the team.
