Although he hinted, “You probably know why,” Jon Dahl Tomasson did not give a detailed explanation for why he was prevented from addressing to the media on Friday.

Tomasson's first words on media absence and McGuire rumours | Lancashire Telegraph

Yesterday, the head coach of the Blackburn Rovers was supposed to address the media during his pre-game press conference. The club then said that it was a “club decision” and that it wouldn’t be the case to The Lancashire Telegraph and BBC Radio Lancashire.

Tomasson was questioned in-depth on his absence following Rovers’ 2-1 loss to Queens Park Rangers. He stated that he was at a loss for words and that he was unable to elaborate.

But he did say, “You probably know why,” which may have been a reference to his displeasure with the January transfer window.

Tomasson began, “It’s very good to see you, I wasn’t allowed to talk to the press yesterday.”

“I have no remark; that’s a decision made by the club. I’m glad to talk to you, I believe you know who I am, and I’m an honest person.

“The supporters are the lifeblood of the game, so it’s bad when you can’t communicate with them. It is something we should always consider. I have no remark; it was a club choice.

“We should never withhold anything from the fans; we should always be upfront with them. I was informed that speaking with the media was not permitted, that it was a club decision. I have nothing further to say about that.

“I am unable to comment on the reasoning behind the club decision. You most likely already know what might be the cause.

“It is challenging to not receive a better response. The club informed me yesterday that I was not allowed to talk to the media. As I sit here, I am responding to the query.

“I have explained the reason to you; I will not be commenting further on it. The club made that choice. Since the supporters are the heart and soul of the football team, we should tell them everything.”

According to reports that surfaced on Saturday, there is a problem with Duncan McGuire’s transfer to Blackburn Rovers. It is said that there is a problem with the paperwork and that the agreement is in jeopardy.

The Lancashire Telegraph is aware that those assertions are true. When contacted for comment, Rovers stated that more information would hopefully become clear in the next 48 hours.

On deadline day, McGuire was unveiled by the team at 11 p.m., but he was ruled out of the match against QPR because, as is customary, the club was still awaiting international clearance and visa checks.

In response to inquiries regarding the matter, Tomasson stated that inquiries have to be made to the Blackburn Rovers board.

“How am I supposed to respond to Duncan McGuire? The case of Duncan McGuire. I’m not permitted to discuss that case. About that case, you ought to speak with Suhail and Steve.

“I think you should ask Steve, Suhail and the ownership about the Duncan McGuire case.”
