Although Jon Dahl Tomasson was dissatisfied with Blackburn Rovers’ defensive performance against Hull City, he was inspired by their perseverance in coming back from a two-goal deficit.
Rovers suffered their sixth loss in their last seven Championship games, during which they have given up 18 goals. They have let in 46 goals so far this season, which is just two more than Rotherham United, who have the second-worst record in the league.
They were again abject at the back against Hull. After giving up goals to the opposition, Rovers trailed two goals to zero after eighteen minutes.
Tomasson acknowledged that the team needed to do a better job of defending those circumstances, but he preferred to concentrate on Rovers’ skill with the ball. However, after leveling the score at2-2, they conceded another careless goal to lose the game.

“We are disappointed to lose the game, of course,” he stated. “We were aware that facing such a strong team would be challenging.
“We are not happy with the goals we gave up. The first two had nothing to do with shape; we had extra players, and prior to the match, we discussed Hull’s strength in balls in-behind.
We ought to have performed better. I also have to commend my team for their response after falling behind 2-0. The tenacity, camaraderie, and unity of excellent football.
“We looked really good at the time to make it 2-2 with the goals we set out to come back.” Naturally, we ought to start the game after that.
“We should have performed better in the second half of the game, which was evenly matched. We achieved a great deal of good against a very good opponent.
“Those were really disappointing times for us; we need to perform better. We can whine about having extra players in every circumstance. But after those instances, we demonstrated resiliency, and the players gave it their best effort even with ten men.
“Losing three goals away from home makes it hard to win games.” We had more chances, but it’s difficult to score two goals away from home. We must perform better.”
It makes sense that Rovers supporters are upset, as the team has been criticized for being too simple to play against. Tomasson attributed that to the composition of his team.
It’s important to remember that this is a young but very talented team. Everyone knows what transpired during the summer.
“We are aware that there are many seasoned players in this excellent league. not just in this league but also at higher leagues. Our players aren’t accustomed to playing a lot of league football or to playing three games a week.
“We are attempting to develop those players, so I believe it is quite normal. That is our goal right now.
