Tomasson, however, was understandably furious after the Owls’ second goal, as Callum Patterson seized Rovers defender James Hill and prevented him from closing down Johnson, the eventual goal scorer.
As a result of his complaints, Tomasson was given a yellow card; nevertheless, a short while later, the Lancashire Telegraph noted that he was given a straight red card.
“Tomasson was straight red carded a few minutes after being initially booked for his remonstrations. As a result, at the final siren, the Rovers head coach was unable to address any internal or external media representatives.
“It’s understood that the Rovers head coach received a booking for reacting angrily to the second goal’s award, but it’s not exactly clear why he was dismissed a short while later.”
This indicates that, after receiving a straight red card instead of a second yellow, the Rovers manager would likely face a lengthy suspension for the Leeds match.
With the careful work the coaching staff does these days and the availability of communication technologies, Tomasson’s absence from the touchline might not have a significant impact.
Being without the manager interferes with their pre-match preparations and hinders Farke’s ability to make the necessary changes during the game, something he has demonstrated this season.
Although Tomasson’s ban has not yet been confirmed, one would think he has done something wrong to receive a straight red card while already under booking.
