BirminghamLive’s most recent news on Birmingham City offers the explanation for Siriki Dembele’s absence during the team’s 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough.

Mark Venus has disclosed that Siriki Dembele was sidelined by Birmingham City’s Tuesday night loss to Middlesbrough because of an injury.

After sustaining a foot injury, the Ivorian winger was left off the substitution list and saw Riley McGree end an uninteresting match at St Andrew’s. Before their match against Watford on Saturday, Blues sit 21st in the Championship, one point above the relegation zone, following their fourth loss in five games.

Venus gave this explanation for Dembele’s absence: “He’s got an injury.” Due to a collision, he now has some stitches in his foot. He has a few stitches in his foot, but I’m not sure how long he will be out.

Dembele has spent the majority of the last several weeks playing off the bench. Although the 27-year-old made an impression early in Tony Mowbray’s career, his performance has declined over the last month.

After appearing to be deceptive during a rare start against Hull, he was not deployed as a substitute in Saturday’s 1-0 loss for the Blues against Millwall. Dembele has six goals this season for the Blues, but he hasn’t scored since January 13 in Mowbray’s opening match against Swansea.

Dembele is certain to sit out the Watford encounter, joining the key Kristian Bielik on the sidelines until after the international break. Dion Sanderson, the captain of the Blues, will make his weekend comeback following a three-game suspension.
