Ethan Laird had a groin injury during Birmingham City’s 0-0 draw with Rotherham United on Saturday, according to Wayne Rooney.

After a Blues onslaught, right-back Laird had to be substituted halfway through the first half. The 22-year-old was briefly examined on the field before Cody Drameh took his place.

“He experienced tightness in his groin,” Rooney remarked later. I’m not sure whether it’s tight or if it’s gone entirely. We will keep an eye on that for the next 24 to 48 hours. Hopefully, it won’t be too serious after we investigate it further.

Laird’s lengthy absence owing to a hamstring ailment was only recently ended. Although he has started four of the past five games for Blues, the former Manchester United youngster is now doubtful for Friday’s matchup with Coventry City.

George Hall

Hamstring injury

Hall played twice for the under-21s after making his comeback from his third hamstring injury in seven months, although he was forced to leave their match on November 24 due to some discomfort. Hall won’t be used in the first team until he has improved his fitness with the second string because Rooney has been eager to err on the side of caution with him.

After the Blues defeated Sheffield Wednesday 2-1, Rooney remarked, “Nothing major, but he felt a little bit tight before the game last night so we didn’t take any risks with him.”We’ll give it a week’s grace period and help him catch up. He needs games, and I’m not able to start him in the first team right now. To be ready for the first team, he has to play a couple more games with the 21s.

Kevin Long

Ailment: Achilles

Long hurt his calf during practice, which caused him to miss the last three Blues games. Rooney has not yet stated if Long is back in the weight room. Later this week, we ought to receive an update on the Irishman’s condition.

Keshi Anderson

Damage: Hamstring

Shortly before halftime on September 22, Anderson had to give way to Oliver Burke because he had pulled up in the middle of the park against QPR. Due to a string of injuries, Anderson played in just nine Championship games for Blackpool last season. As a result, he has missed the last 11 games for Blues.

Robert Tyler

Ailment: Achilles

Roberts played in the opening day match against Swansea City after finishing preseason, although having to deal with a groin complaint toward the conclusion of it. After 60 minutes, he was taken off the field to rest for the Carabao Cup triumph over Cheltenham Town.

Roberts was supposed to start against his old team, Leeds United, on August 12 after training all week. However, he sustained a new injury on the eve of the game. Roberts has had some difficulties and has been out for almost four months.

Alfie Chang

Ailment: Knee

Chang sustained a significant knee injury on August 22 while training, meaning he will be out for a while. Under former manager John Eustace, the midfielder was a mainstay in Blues’ matchday lineups, providing backup to the midfield duo of Ivan Sunjic and Kristian Bielik. Chang is already exercising in the gym at the Blues training facility after undergoing surgery to repair his damaged ACL.
