Latest Birmingham City news from BirminghamLive includes Wayne Rooney’s reaction to the 1-0 win at Cardiff Wayne Rooney wasted no time in challenging his Birmingham City players to build on their 1-0 win over Cardiff City. In his post-match debrief in the dressing room, Rooney told his players to build on a momentous three points against Cardiff. The win was sealed by Juninho Bacuna’s strike in first half stoppage time and ended a run of eight straight away defeats. Rooney wants to taste more victories now. “I’ve just said that to them,” he said. “Enjoy coming away from home and getting three points, but we’ve got another very difficult game coming up on Monday. We can’t get carried away. “We have to refocus because Monday is a very difficult game. We’ve got a few days to prepare for that now and do everything we can to try and get a positive result on Monday.” Blues’ players executed Rooney’s game-plan to perfection at the Cardiff City Stadium. Rooney added: “We knew it would be a tough game, Cardiff are a team who stay in games and try and nick three points, but I felt in the first half we took the ball and made it difficult for Cardiff. They had moments, especially at set pieces – Cardiff are the best in the league set piece wise. We struggled first half with that, but thankfully we got the goal just before half-time. “I was more pleased in the second half. We didn’t really give them any chances, we didn’t look like conceding a goal, and then we had two or three really good chances to get the second goal. “I’m really pleased with the performance but tonight was more for us. It’s been a difficult few weeks for everyone, results wise, so tonight was more about the result. I’m delighted for the players, I see it day in, day out. They put a lot of work
